Most of us can predict a pupil’s grade to within one band by October. We spend the rest of the year hoping to be wrong in the right direction.

Half the uniform rules exist so there is something small to enforce on a Monday. The other half are older than the building.

Teachers can usually tell which pupil hasn’t done their homework before they’ve even checked the books. It’s the way the bag stays zipped.
